STEAM MASS / STEAM HEAT
A flowmeter measures the actual volume flow in a steam line. A temperature and/or pressure sensor is installed to measure temperature and/or pressure.

STEAM NET HEAT
A flowmeter measures the actual volume flow in a steam line. A temperature and a pressure sensor are installed to measure temperature and/or pressure. All measurement are made on the steam side of a heat exchanger.

STEAM DELTA HEAT
Measures actual volume flow and pressure of the saturated steam in the supply piping as well as the temperature of the condensate in the downstream piping of a heat exchanger.

The Natural Gas Flow Computer ES-749 satisfies the instrument requirements for natural gas applications. The NX-19 option is available for Natural Gas calculations where the user requires compensation for compressibility effects. Compensation for these compressibility effects are required at medium to high pressure and are a function of the gas specific gravity, % CO2, % Nitrogen, as well as temperature and pressure. The compressibility algorithm used is that for AGA NX-19.

Many of today’s flow meters offer multiple outputs which are assignable to flow and temperature. The ES761ST2 offers enhanced functionality to permit these multiple outputs to be used with added flexibility. This flexibility is utilized in common applications such as when computing the net energy of saturated steam energy in minus condensate return energy out. Flow and Temperature can be measured at the multi-variable flow meter. A separate temperature measurement can be made in the condensate. The ES761 then computes the mass flow of steam as well as the input energy of steam from the available input sensors on steam, will also compute, the energy in the condensate return, and will compute the net energy. Refer to diagram which follows.

The ES-759 is a special version of KEP’s SUPERtrol II which offers a special feature that allows users to access Heating Total by pressing the TOTAL button, and Cooling Total by pressing the GRAND button when using Liquid Delta Heat Equation. The ES759 ST2 is intended for use as a heat flow computer for systems which are used for part of the year as a heating system and part of the year as a cooling system. There are separate energy totalizers for heat total and cooling total. This functionality assumes that Liquid Delta Heat Equation is selected. The energy units for the heating and cooling totalizers must be the same. The Low Delta T Cutout represents a “dead band” which the T2-T1 calculation must exceed before the energy flow rates (heat flow rate) will show as a numeric value other than 0, and where one of the energy totalizers will begin accumulating.
